Admission requirements for the Single and Joint Honours MA "Comparative Literature" (78/ 42 C)
- B.A. degree or equivalent degree
- Relevance of previous studies: Verification is required of academic achievement in general and comparative literary science (comparative literature) or in an individual philology with a scope of at least 45 credits, including credits in the field of literary science totalling at least 17 credits.
Language requirements:
Applicants must present evidence of reading skills in two modern foreign languages, of which one must be either English or French, on B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) or comparable language skills (e.g. a Bachelor's degree, or at least five years of secondary school language instruction with an average grade of 'satisfactory' or better, or the equivalent point score).
Applicants must demonstrate sufficient language skills in only one foreign language, if they can additionally prove basic knowledge of Latin or Greek by an intermediate Latin or Greek certificate.
Applicants are exempt from the obligation to present evidence of a language test if they are either native speakers of the respective foreign language or have completed at least six months of study abroad or gainful employment in the respective country within the last three years prior to filing the application for admission.
The evidence must be furnished within one semester following enrolment, in which case the enrolment is subject to conditions precedent until the outstanding certificates have been presented by the applicant. The selection committee decides in each case whether or not the evidence of language skills presented is accepted as an equivalent.
