How is the wearing of masks regulated?

Despite level 0, due to the current high incidence of infection, all persons (including visitors) are required to wear face masks (either a medical or an FFP2 mask) in all University buildings at all times from 1 April to 30 April 2022, including at their seats, even during lectures and committee meetings. The requirement does not apply in single-occupier offices or when offices are only occupied by one person. Likewise, teaching staff are exempt from the requirement to wear masks during lectures if a distance of at least 3 meters between the presenter and the audience can be ensured.

Do I have to register in advance to take part in a course in person?

You register as usual in StudIP for the chosen course and find out there whether you can be assigned a place to attend in person in advance (in StudIP).

One recommendation is that students should get together in groups with a similar risk profile, for example in group work. However, this means that I might have to disclose personal information to my fellow students and teachers. Am I obliged to do this?

No, you are not obliged to do so. Forming such groups is meant to be voluntary and will be encouraged by the teachers, but not demanded. The formation of fixed groups is recommended, as for participants this can further reduce any risk of infection which might arise from constantly having contact with different individuals.

Do I have to provide proof of 3G/2G to attend courses or exams in person?

No, a 3G certificate is not required for attendance in person.

Can I also use the libraries/SUB as well as access advice and other services for students, such as the Dean's Offices and Examination Offices, without 3G/2G proof?

In principle, proof of vaccination or recovered status is no longer required.

Will the Campus Covid Screen (CCS) test continue to be offered free of charge?

Yes, the CCS test will continue to be offered free of charge and with extended opening hours in the summer semester and should therefore be taken regularly, ideally at least twice a week. You can find more information at https://www.uni-goettingen.de/en/631931.html

What options are there for students who, for example, do not wish to attend classes in person because they belong to an at-risk group? What alternatives are there to continue studying regularly?

Please look in StudIP or contact teaching staff directly to find out what digital courses are available in parallel or as a supplement to the face-to-face courses.

Will there be exams onsite and in person despite the current high rate of infection?

Taking into account the range of opinions about online and onsite teaching and examinations, and after consultation with local experts, the University has decided to allow examinations in person onsite as long as there is compliance with the appropriate health and hygiene rules. To find out whether and how much your teaching staff will make use of this option, please check the usual channels that you get your information, in particular the examination administration system FlexNow. The teaching staff will announce the planned examination format in good time (as usual no later than 14 days before the examination date) so that you can prepare for an examination in person or for an online exam.

What health and hygiene rules apply to exams onsite? Does 3G apply? Do I have to wear a mask during the exam?

  • You do not need to show proof of 3G/2G status to sit an exam.
  • A medical or FFP2 mask is highly recommended for the duration of the exam..

I am in an at-risk group and have concerns about taking a face-to-face exam. Are there any alternatives?

  • If you are a member of an at-risk group and do not wish to take part in an examination onsite, please contact the officers responsible for exams or the Examination Office as soon as possible, at the latest when you register for the examination, so that an alternative solution can be found. Those responsible for organising exams will accommodate people who have requested special protection for at-risk groups (Risikogruppen), whether for themselves or for their contacts, to the extent that this can be reasonably facilitated from an organizational point of view.
  • If you belong to an at-risk group, or care for children or relatives in need of care, you can apply to be compensated for any disadvantage.

I have to go into isolation or quarantine. What can I do now?

In principle, the same regulations apply to quarantine and isolation as in cases of illness.

If you are unable to take part in an examination at short notice because you had to go into isolation or quarantine, you must provide the examination office with the appropriate certificate. For example, you could provide a certificate from the Gesundheitsamt (local health office) or an Absonderungsbescheinigung (certificate of isolation), which can be requested from the City of Göttingen (https://goe.de/qb), or other valid means of proof. This must be submitted in a timely manner.

You can then take the next possible examination date without this being counted as a failed attempt.

I could not attend the scheduled exam due to Covid-19 and this is especially detrimental to me (eg the next regular exam date is so late that my studies would be delayed). What can I do?

If you are in the position of having to take the next regular examination date for one of the above-mentioned reasons – such as quarantine, isolation or belonging to an at-risk group – but this would at the same time be especially detrimental for you, you can submit a corresponding application to the Prüfungskommission (examination committee). The committee will decide on this and, if necessary, offer separate dates so that you can catch up. The faculties make every effort to decide in the best interest of the students within the options available to them.

My Corona-warn-app shows red / I am a close contact of someone who has tested positive, but officially do not have to be quarantined because I am fully vaccinated. However, I do not want to endanger anyone, what should I do?

It is recommended that you get a PCR test at Campus Covid Screen promptly before the exam (the test result is valid for 48 hours). If your result is negative, the risk to you and your fellow students should be low.

I took an exam and subsequently tested positive. What do I do?

In this case, please inform the Prüfungsamt (examination office) immediately to enable them to inform all examiners and students so that they can get tested promptly.

My exam takes place online. Where can I find the information about what I need to do?

You can find information about various formats for online exams on the online examination webpage of the Digital Learning and Teaching section.

Does proof of 3G/2G status have to be provided and verified for participation in courses or exams in presence?

No, proof of 3G is not required to participate in person and so no verification is required.

I plan to offer my course in person. Am I obliged to offer an online course in parallel, e.g. via video?

No , you are not required to offer an online alternative for all face-to-face courses. However, you can offer an online alternative for students who cannot or do not wish to attend in presence for various reasons. This can be done simultaneously via direct transmission or at a later date via a recording. In the case of courses made up of multiple events (e.g. exercises), it is also possible to offer one part in person and another part online. Please make use of the various options for the digital organisation of teaching. If I want to use streaming for the hybrid/online design of my course, for example, are there also aspects of data protection/copyright that need to be taken into account?

On the website of the Digital Learning and Teaching Team, you will find suggestions for the varied and customised design of digital teaching as well as information on what should be considered in terms of data protection for each format: https://www.uni-goettingen.de/de/lehren/635294.html
