The Faculty of Biology and Psychology at the University of Göttingen invites applications for a permanent professorship with civil servant status (grade W2 NBesO) at the Georg-Elias-Müller Institute of Psychology effective on April 1, 2025:

W2 Professorship in Industrial and Organisational Psychology (f/m/d)

We are looking for a team-oriented and committed colleague with a track-record of outstanding international publications in the field of industrial and organisational psychology who has also successfully acquired competitive third-party funding. The applicant’s research profile should be compatible with the research profile of the Institute of Psychology, which is mainly oriented towards basic experimental research, especially in the field of cognitive psychology.

With regard to teaching, the professorship will cover the entire field of industrial and organisational psychology in the Bachelor and Masters courses of Psychology. Teaching also involves industrial and organizational psychology courses in the study programmes of the Faculties of Social Sciences and Business and Economics. The aim is that the post-holder will have additional affiliations with these two faculties.

Appointment requirements are: The German “Habilitation” in the field of Psychology or equivalent qualifications in research and teaching. The Institute places value on open, transparent and replicable research. Applicants should state how they currently pursue these aspects and how they plan to consider them in their future teaching and research. The University of Göttingen attaches importance to research-oriented teaching.

Appointment requirements are stipulated by Article 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act in the most current version of that law. As a rule, junior professors and other members of the University of Göttingen who obtained their doctorate from this university can only be considered for a professorial appointment if they have changed to another university or worked for a minimum of two years in research elsewhere after completion of their doctoral thesis. The University of Göttingen is a Public Law Foundation and thereby entitled to award professorships. Details will be provided upon request.
