Welcome to InDiGU and InDiGU-PLUS!
InDiGU stands for Integration & Diversity at Göttingen University. The project InDiGU-PLUS builds on the existing certificate programme InDiGU, which has been training students to become experts in intercultural communication since 2009.
Funded by DAAD, InDiGU-PLUS is an extracurricular programme offered by the Göttingen University. The programme supports international students throughout their entire student life cycle: from the day of enrollment, to the day of successful graduation, all the way to the transition to the German-speaking job market.
InDiGU
InDiGU (= Integration and Diversity at Göttingen University) is a programme open to all students at the University of Göttingen.
Launched in 2009, the programme offers students from all disciplines the opportunity to experience diversity first-hand and to develop their intercultural skills. The ones who successfully complete the programme receive the International Certificate of the University of Göttingen.
During their participation in the programme new international students receive support from experienced colleagues in order to integrate into everyday life on the Göttingen campus and to make a successful start into their studies. Students who have already been studying at the University of Göttingen for some time contribute their intercultural commitment and experience a change of perspective through the collaboration with new students. And those who want to study abroad prepare themselves for new impressions.
InDiGU was funded by the DAAD from 2009 to 2011 as one of 30 model projects in Germany and has later been adapted by numerous universities throughout the country.
The project is implemented and coordinated by Göttingen International, the Key Competence Area Intercultural Interactions and the Career Service.
InDiGU-PLUS
Funded by the DAAD in 2024 and coordinated by Göttingen International, the Key Competence Area Intercultural Interactions and the Career Service, the InDiGU-PLUS project has started in the winter semester 2024/25. The new project InDiGU-PLUS builds up on the InDiGU programme – it supports primarily international students throughout their entire student life cycle: from the beginning of their studies to the graduation and the start of their career in Germany. The aim of the programme InDiGU-PLUS is to ensure that academically qualified specialists with international background have a smooth start in the German-speaking labor market.
InDiGU-PLUS is open to international students of all disciplines and offers support with establishing:
- Communication skills for academic success
- Communication skills for employability
- Skills for professional integration
The programme includes German language courses for study and work and various workshops to improve communication skills for academic success and career entry and to develop intercultural skills for studying and working in international teams in Germany. Among other things, InDiGU-PLUS offers support in the creation of individual career profiles, in the search for internships, in the application process and during actual start of the career.
InDiGU-PLUS is funded by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) from 2024 to the end of 2028 as part of the programme “FIT – Förderung internationaler Talente zur Integration in Studium und Arbeitsmarkt”. The aim of the FIT programme is to enable German universities to provide tailor-made support to international students throughout their studies in order to ensure their academic success and a career start in Germany.
