Details

Building on your nursing training and personal experience from your professional career, your knowledge will not only be expanded to include nursing, but also aspects of social science, human science and health economics. Interprofessional competences are also a focus, as some of the courses take place together with students from other health-related professions at the Göttingen Health Campus – a cooperation between the UMG and the HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hildesheim/Holzminden/Göttingen.

When applying for the degree programme, you decide on one of the two study specialisations: ‘Intensive care and anaesthesia nursing’ or “oncological nursing”. In addition, you can choose the option ‘with further specialist training’ and have the opportunity to take an additional examination at the end of the 5th semester and practical assignments between the on-campus courses to obtain the qualification ‘Specialist in Intensive Care and Anaesthesia Nursing’ or ‘Specialist in Oncological Nursing’ in accordance with the ‘Lower Saxony Ordinance on Further Training in Healthcare Professions’. The core content of these two recognised specialist further training courses, as well as the qualification for practical guidance, are integrated into the study modules.

After successfully completing your studies and a possible specialist training programme, many paths are open to you as a specialist, e.g:

  • for controlling highly complex care situations
  • for scientifically sound, evidence-based and reflective action
  • for the implementation of current research results in nursing practice
  • provide professional counselling and guidance to patients and their relatives
  • Caring projects to be carried out
  • Promote the strengthening and management of interprofessional collaboration

In addition, the Bachelor's degree opens up access to further Master's programmes in nursing and healthcare - depending on individual interests and future plans.
