Metal workshop

The department has its own precision engineering workshop. In addition to the usual lathes and milling machines for manufacturing parts of various sizes, there is a forge and welding equipment for various materials. Depending on the issue at hand for the research projects at the department, the workshop produces test stands and measurement solutions for evaluating innovative technologies and work processes based on ecological, economic and ergonomic aspects. Recently, among others Prototypes of ergonomically optimized planting tools, adapters for power measurements on power saws as well as a test stand for the loading and measurement of contact surface pressures under bogie tapes created. In addition, the equipment is used to create measuring equipment, measuring tools and other test facilities on behalf of other departments of the university, as well as to repair existing technology and adapt it to new requirements. Occasionally, custom-made products and small series are also implemented for non-university institutions or companies.
