The Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Göttingen invites applications for a temporary professorship with civil servant status (grade W1 NBesO) effective on April 1, 2025:

W1 Professorship in Computational Statistics (f/m/d)

The professorship will be awarded with civil servant status for a period of three years. After a positive evaluation, the employment contract will be extended for another three years.

We are looking for team-oriented and committed applicants with the potential for outstanding publications on computational statistics. The position holder will focus on research questions related to method development. Areas of specialisation could include (approximate) Bayesian inference, causal inference, missing values, statistical learning methods and statistical foundations of machine learning, semiparametric regression, multivariate statistics or other computationally intensive areas of statistics. The post holder will participate in relevant collaborative initiatives of the faculty and the university. In particular, the involvement of the professorship in the activities of the Campus Institute Data Science (CIDAS) is desired.

The post holder is expected to be involved in teaching in the Faculty's Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes, in particular the Master's degree programme in Applied Statistics. The University of Göttingen attaches importance to research-oriented teaching.

Appointment requirements are stipulated by Article 30 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act in the most current version of that law. Details will be provided upon request.
