Press release: Efficient Utilization of Renewable Resources

Nr. 216/2013 - 06.11.2013

International Conference on November, 13 and 14, 2013 at the University of Göttingen

(pug) Strategies and approaches for the efficient utilization of renewable resources are the subject of an international conference on November, 13 and 14, 2013 at the University of Göttingen. The “International Conference on Resource Efficiency in Interorganizational Networks” aims at the interdisciplinary exchange of ideas, research approaches, and results, and wants to discuss problems from different perspectives that arise in the context of renewable resources. It takes place at the Paulinerkirche, Papendiek 14, 37073 Göttingen, and is organized by the DFG Research Training Group “Resource Efficiency in Interorganizational Networks” of the University of Göttingen.

Renewable resources are relevant as they allow an alternative resource basis for the industry. Hence, research of the efficient usage of renewable resources in production processes is necessary, especially concerning the usage of by-products. The main focus is cascade utilization, i.e., a multiple usage of the raw material, such as straw, grasses, and sawdust, before their final energetic utilization.

The conference will be held in English and is opened on Wednesday, November 13, at 10 a.m. by the dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and speaker of the RTG Prof. Dr. Jutta Geldermann and the vice-speaker Prof. Dr. Matthias Schumann. Invited Speakers are Dr. Stefan Vodegel from the Clausthal Institute of Environmental Technology (CUTEC), Prof. Dr. Barry Goodell from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (USA), Prof. Dr. Adisa Azapagic, University of Manchester (UK), and Prof. Dr. Daniela Kleinschmit from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala. More than forty cross-departmental talks on the topics Materials and Technologies, Planning of Production and Value-added Networks for Renewable Resources, and Governance, Coordination and Sale, will encourage the interdisciplinary exchange of the researchers.

The program of the conference is available online at http://reseff2013.uni-goettingen.de. The interested public is kindly asked to register via an email to reseff2013@uni-goettingen.de.
