Admission requirements for the Joint Honours MA "Ancient Cultures" (78/ 42 C)
- B.A. degree or equivalent degree
- Verification required for either

- academic achievement in History comprising at least 60 credits, including at least 20 credits in Ancient History, or
- academic achievement in Archaeology / Ancient Cultures comprising at least 75 credits, including at least 6 credits each in the area of Greek History and Roman History, but altogether at least 20 credits,
or

academic achievement in Egyptology, Coptology, Classical Philology, Papyrology, Classical Archaeology, Christian Archaeology, Prehistory and Early History, Ancient Oriental Studies, Cuneiform Studies, Near Eastern Archaeology, Ancient History, Medieval and Modern History, Byzantine Studies, Protestant Theology, Catholic Theology, Jewish Studies/Jewish Studies, African Studies, Arabic Studies, Ancient Near Eastern Studies, Classical Studies, Gender Studies, Art History, Comparative Literature, Linguistics, Ancient Studies/Antique Cultures, Anthropology, Ethnology, European Ethnology or Religious Studies to the extent of at least 50 credits,
or

- academic achievement in the field of Coptology, Christian archaeology or Theology amounting to at least 60 credits or
- academic achievement in Classical Studies/Antique Cultures amounting to at least 75 credits, including at least 6 credits each in Coptology, Christian Archaeology and Theology, but a total of at least 20 credits.

Applicants who apply proving that they have relevant previous academic achievements according to no. 1 (see above) must show evidence of sufficient knowledge of Latin, at least on the level of the German "Latinum". The evidence of sufficient knowledge of Latin must be submitted by the end of the second subject semester. Until such evidence has been presented, the enrolment is subject to conditions precedent,

Applicants who apply proving that they have relevant previous academic achievements according to no. 2 (see above) must show evidence of sufficient knowledge of Central Egyptian or Sahidian to the extent of at least 12 C or knowledge of Central Egyptian to the extent of at least 12 C or knowledge of Sahidian to the extent of at least 12 C. The evidence must be submitted by the end of the second subject semester. Until such evidence has been presented, the enrolment is subject to conditions precedent.

- Recommended previous knowledge: Basic knowledge of Ancient Greek as well as English and another modern European foreign language are strongly recommended.
