Two professorships “Georesources and Sustainability”

At the Faculty of Geoscience and Geography at the University of Göttingen, two professorships (f/m/d) with civil servant status are to be filled at the earliest possible date::

• W3 Professorship in Environmental Geosciences
• W2 Professorship in Geography of Environment and Resource-related Conflicts

The future tasks of geoscientific and geographical research and teaching are defined by the tension between pure basic science and application-oriented research to solve pressing global problems. In the new research focus “Georesources and Sustainability”, the Faculty of Geoscience and Geography is addressing these challenges with emphasis on spatial-social, environmental geoscientific and resource exploration-related aspects with the aim of an integrative analysis of scientific processes and current social challenges.
The two professorships to be filled are an integral part of the overarching faculty research focus “Georesources and Sustainability” and contribute significantly to its profile development as well as the visibility and connectivity of the Faculty of Geoscience and Geography. They strengthen ongoing and planned collaborative projects and fit in perfectly with the University's research strategy. In addition, they will increase the attractiveness of the courses on offer both in the geosciences and in the teacher training courses in geography.
Together with the Faculties of Agricultural Sciences, Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology, Biology and Psychology as well as the Centre of Biodiversity and Sustainable Land Use (CBL) and the Campus Institute Data Science (CIDAS), the University of Göttingen offers a unique environment for research in the field of “Sustainable Use of Natural Resources”.
